QiQi+MinMin’s Travel Blog 117: Winnipeg, Manitoba & Minaki, Ontario, Canada(Day 1) 加拿大曼尼托巴省温尼伯和安大略省米纳基(第一天)(2015.7.14-7.18)

We never stop exploring Canada. Winnipeg, the capital city in Manitoba,  is our next stop. Winnipeg, “Gateway to the West”, is the largest city in Manitoba and the 7th largest city in Canada with 778K population.

我们从未停止探索加拿大的脚步。 我们的下一站是温尼伯， 曼尼托巴省的首府。 温尼伯， 有西部入口的美誉， 有77万8千多的人口， 是曼尼托巴省最大的城市， 加拿大第七大城市

We took a 3-hr flight from Toronto Pearson Airport to Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson Airport.   我们从多伦多皮尔森机场飞了三个小时到温尼伯詹姆斯·阿姆斯特朗·理查森国际机场

We rent this car for 5-day stay.   我们接下来的五天就靠这辆车了

Formally we are in Winnipeg now.   我们正式到了温尼伯啦

A journey to Churchill to see those polar bears is on our bucket list, but it requires more time and more budget, so it’s not in this trip.     去丘吉尔看北极熊是我们的梦想， 但需要更多的时间和更多的钱， 所以不在这次旅行计划中

#1   Assiniboine Park Zoo          阿西尼博因动物园

Our first stop in Winnipeg is Assiniboine Park Zoo located at 2595 Roblin Blvd, which was established in 1904. The admission fee is $20 per person with free parking.  我们到温尼伯的第一站是阿西尼博因动物园， 位于2595 Roblin Blvd， 动物园1904年就有了， 门票20刀一个人， 可以免费停车

A Lot of Cute Animals to See  很多可爱的动物可以看

A zoo is always a good place for field trips.      动物园总是小朋友春秋游好去处

We cannot go to Churchill to see the polar bears, but we won’t miss the International Polar Bear Conservation Center in the zoo.   虽然我们去不了丘吉尔看北极熊， 但绝不会错过动物园里的国际北极熊保护中心

The journey to Churchill starts from the theater.     丘吉尔之旅从剧院开始

We are supposed to see polar bears in this tunnel, but we only saw this sea lion.  我们其实应该在这个隧道看到北极熊， 但是我们只看到这只海狮

Finally we found you, polar bear, and it’s not the only one, they are the King of Assiniboine Park Zoo.    我们终于找到了你， 北极熊， 而且不止一只， 北极熊是阿西尼博因动物园的大王

Polar bears have black tongues.     北极熊的舌头原来是黑的

There is a simulated city of Churchill in the polar bear conservation center.  在北极熊保护中心里还有个丘吉尔模拟城

This cage is to catch a polar bear.   这笼子是用来抓北极熊的

A Very Big Zoo, a lot of animals to see, it takes 2-3 hours to visit.   非常大的动物园， 有很多动物可以看， 需要花两到三个小时逛一圈

This guy is not a squirrel, right? I guess it’s a groundhog, lives freely in a zoo   这小家伙不是松鼠吧， 我猜是土拨鼠吧， 自由自在地生活在动物园里

There is a botanical garden full of butterflies in the zoo.  动物园里有个满天飞蝴蝶的植物园

A Common Gift Shop at the Exit     出口按惯例有个礼品店

This “Winnie the Pooh” plant leads us to the next stop.   这棵温尼熊的植物领着我们到下个目的地

#2  Pavilion Gallery Museum, in Assiniboine Park next to the zoo, its address is 55 Pavilion Crescent       景点二：  Pavilion画廊博物馆， 在阿西尼博因公园里， 动物园旁边， 具体地址是55 Pavilion Crescent

The Pooh Gallery is what we are looking for in Pavilion Gallery Museum. It’s a free and small Winnie the Pooh Museum.    我们就是为了这温尼熊画廊才来Pavilion画廊博物馆的。 是个虽然小不过免费的温尼熊博物馆

The painting behind MinMin “Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Pot” is the only known oil painting done by E.H. Shepard, the original illustrator of author A.A. Milne’s books. It was bought at auction for more than $250,000 by a group of prominent Winnipeggers.    MinMin身后的画“温尼熊和蜂蜜罐”是A.A. Milne温尼熊书的插画师E.H. Shepard亲自画的为人所知唯一一幅的油画作品。 是一群著名温尼伯人集资25万美金从拍卖行拍下的

The inspiration of Winnie the Pooh is this real black bear cub adopted by Canadian Lieutenant Harry Colebourn who named it as “Winnie” after his own hometown Winnipeg, and then Winnie was brought to London and donated to London Zoo, where the author Alan Alexander Milne’s son Christopher Robin Milne saw Winnie and named his own teddy bear as Winnie, which inspired his Dad to create the most famous bear character “Winnie the Pooh”.     温尼熊的原型是这只被加拿大中尉Harry Colebourn领养的小黑熊， 中尉用自己家乡温尼伯来给小熊取名为Winnie， 之后Winnie被带到了伦敦， 捐给了伦敦动物园， 温尼熊的作者Alan Alexander Milne的儿子Christopher Robin Milne就是在伦敦动物园里见到了Winnie， 把自己的泰迪熊命名为Winnie， 就这么启发了他爸创作了最出名的熊“Winnie the Pooh”

We are still in Assiniboine Park, a children’s garden next to Pavilion Gallery Museum, there is a must-see thing in the garden.   我们仍旧在阿西尼博因公园里， 在画廊博物馆旁有个儿童乐园， 里面有个不容错过的东西要看

Here we go, the well-known statue of Harry Colebourn and Winnie the Bear, this is where the beloved Winnie the Pooh comes from.    我们到啦， 著名的温尼熊和中尉Harry Colebourn的雕塑， 大家喜欢的温尼熊的真正出处

#3  Polo Park, the largest shopping mall in Winnipeg at 1485 Portage Avenue   景点三：温尼伯最大的购物中心Polo Park， 位于1485 Portage Avenue

We had a dinner at its food court in Polo Park, not bad.   我们在Polo Park里的大食代吃的晚饭， 还不错

The sky around 10pm in Winnipeg in July is still so bright.    温尼伯7月的天空晚上10点还是那么亮

Attraction #1       Parc Mount Royal                  景点一         皇家山公园

Took Orange Line from Station Namur to Station Mount Royal and walked to Mount Royal Avenue East to take a Bus No. 11 to Remembrance / Chemin du Chalet stop  坐橘线从Namur站到Mount Royal站， 出站后走到东Mount Royal大道坐11路公交到Remembrance / Chemin du Chalet 站下车

Parc Mont Royal is a very big park, actually it’s a little hill, it takes 15 minutes to walk to the top with a very beautiful trail view      皇家山公园是个非常大的公园， 实际上是个小山坡， 走个15分钟可以到山顶， 一路上的风景很好

The iconic lookout for the city of Montreal is at the top of Mount Royal.    著名的蒙特利尔的观景台就在皇家山的山顶上

What a Breathtaking View of City of Montreal !!!    蒙特利尔城际景色绝对叹为观止

Attraction #2   Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal   景点二    皇家山圣约瑟夫大教堂

Back to Bus No. 11 stop we just got off, and continued to take a Bus No. 11 to Gatineau/Queen-Mary stop, then walked 3 minutes to Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal, its address is 3800 Queen Mary Road     走回刚才下车的11路公交站， 继续坐11路到Gatineau/Queen-Mary站， 然后走3分钟就到皇家山圣约瑟夫大教堂， 地址是3800 Queen Mary Road

Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal is the largest church in Canada and has one of the largest domes in the world    皇家山圣约瑟夫大教堂是加拿大最大的教堂， 也是世界上最大的圆顶之一

There are total 99 steps to climb up to the church, which we did. And we saw several people climbing on their knees through the middle stairs   总共要爬99级台阶才能到教堂， 我们真的爬啦， 我们看见几个人从中间的台阶一路跪着爬上去的

There is a lookout at the top of the church with an amazing view.   教堂顶上有个风景很好的观景台

Attraction #3    Mount Royal Lookout           景点三： 皇家山观景台

Another lookout to see Montreal Olympic Stadium, take a Bus No. 11 to get off at Station Belvédère Camillien-Houde      另一个观景台可以看到奥林匹克体育馆， 坐11路公交Belvédère Camillien-Houde站下车

Attraction #4   Schwartz’s Deli            景点四： 施瓦茨熟食店

The most famous deli in Montreal, founded in 1928 and now it’s owned by Celine Dion, our idol, so it’s a must-go place to us. Its address is 3895 St Laurent Blvd, continue to take a Bus No. 11 to Station Saint-Laurent / du Mont-Royal and walk 10 minutes     蒙特利尔最有名的熟食店，1928年创立的， 现在的老板是我俩的偶像Celine Dion， 这也是为啥我俩一定要来的原因。 地址是3895 St Laurent Blvd， 继续坐11路公交到Saint-Laurent / du Mont-Royal站然后走10分钟路

Schwartz’s signature dish is a smoked meat sandwich served on rye bread with yellow mustard, the meat with Montreal steak seasoning created by Schwartz’s  施瓦茨熟食店的镇店名菜就是这个蛋黄酱烟肉三明治， 肉是施瓦茨自创的蒙特利尔牛排香料腌的

Their take-out is next door.  And Schwartz’s signature smoked meat can be found in Costco. 外卖在隔壁，施瓦茨熟食店的著名烟肉在Costco里能找到

Attraction #5  Olympic Stadium                景点五： 奥林匹克体育馆

Built for 1976 Summer Olympics at 4141 Pierre-de Coubertin Ave, take Orange Line from Station Namur to Station Berri-UQÀM and transfer Green Line to Station Pie-IX, when you get out of the station, you can see that big white building in front of you, it’s the Olympic Stadium.    为1976年的夏季奥运会所建， 位于4141 Pierre-de Coubertin Ave， 在Namur地铁站坐橙线到Berri-UQÀM站， 转绿线到Pie-IX站， 走出地铁站就能看到这座白色大建筑， 就是奥林匹克体育馆啦

When we were there, 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup was held at Olympic Stadium, England vs Colombia, we met a lot of passionate Colombia fans   我们在那里时， 正好遇上2015年女足世界杯英格兰对哥伦比亚， 还遇上了好大一群热情的哥伦比亚球迷

There is the Biodome and a botanical garden in the stadium as well.   体育馆里还有个生态圈和植物园

Attraction #6   The Biosphere            景点六：生态圈

The Biosphere is an environment museum located at Parc Jean-Drapeau, on Saint Helen’s Island, it is the former USA Pavilion in Expo 1967.  Take Orange Line from Station Namur to Station Berri-UQÀM and transfer Yellow Line to Station Jean-Drapeau, when you get out of the station, you can see the ball right away, its address is 160 Chemin du Tour de l’isle      生态圈其实是个环境博物馆，位于圣海伦岛的Jean-Drapeau公园的， 是1967年世博会美国展馆， 从Namur站坐橙线到Berri-UQÀM站， 转乘黄线到Jean-Drapeau站， 走出站台就能看到那个球啦， 地址是160 Chemin du Tour de l’isle

Attraction #7      Place Jacques Cartier and Montreal City Hall           景点七：  Place Jacques Cartier和蒙特利尔市政府

Place Jacques Cartier in Old Montreal is a carfree zone for arts and entertainment.  蒙特利尔老城的Place Jacques Cartier是个步行街， 有艺术摊位和娱乐区

Nelson’s Column for the memory of Admiral Horatio Nelson, following his death at the Battle of Trafalgar, the city’s oldest monument and is the oldest war monument in Canada    海军上将霍拉肖·纳尔逊的纪念碑， 悼念他在特拉法加战役的牺牲， 这个纪念碑不仅仅是蒙特利尔最古老的纪念碑还是加拿大最老的战争纪念碑

Montreal City Hall is at 275 Notre-Dame St. East, a gorgeous building worth to visit  蒙特利尔市政厅位于275 Notre-Dame St. East， 建筑本身很漂亮， 值得进去看一看

McGill University is a public research university, established in 1821, people always call it as Harvard of Canada.   麦吉尔大学是所公立研究类大学， 成立于1821年， 总是被人们叫做加拿大的哈佛

The Statue of James McGill, the university is named after James McGill, a Montreal merchant originally from Scotland who formed McGill College, the predecessor of McGill University    詹姆斯·麦吉尔的雕塑， 大学是以他命名的， 一个来自苏格兰的蒙特利尔商人， 创立了麦吉尔大学的前身麦吉尔学院

We got a thunderstorm at the beginning of the first day in Montreal, it’s not a good start, especially we are going to take a walk to visit Montreal. So we parked our car at the parking lot of Orange Line 2 Station Namur. Its address is 7405 Boulevard Décarie, Montréal          在蒙特利尔的第一天一早上，我们就遇上了一场雷阵雨， 真不是个好开头， 尤其是我们准备步行游蒙特利尔。 所以我们先把车停在二号线橘线Namur地铁站的停车场， 地址是7405 Boulevard Décarie, Montréal

We bought a 3-day Metro Pass for unlimited rides for all lines, $18 per pass.  Most attractions in Montreal can be reached by Metro, much more convenient than Toronto  我们买了张三天地铁通票， 可以随便坐地铁， 一张通票18刀。 蒙特利尔绝大多数的景点可以坐地铁到的， 比多伦多方便很多

Today, we are going to visit the historic district in Old Montreal. We got off at Station Place-d’Armes and walked 5 minutes to our first stop        今天我们计划参观蒙特利尔老城的历史文化区， 在Place-d’Armes站下车， 走五分钟就能到我们的第一个景点

Our today’s first stop is Bank of Montreal Museum,  its address is 129 St Jacques St, Montreal.  Bank of Montreal is the oldest banking institution in Canada, which was founded in 1817.  And this building is the head office of BMO.    我们今天的第一个景点是蒙特利尔银行博物馆， 地址是 129 St Jacques St, Montreal。 蒙特利尔银行是加拿大历史最悠久的银行， 成立于1817年， 这栋楼是蒙特利尔银行的总部大楼

There is a museum located in the lobby and it’s free.  As BMO is the oldest bank in Canada, there are a lot of things to see in the museum.  And BMO issued its own money from 1817 to 1942, which you can see in the museum as well.     大堂里有个免费的博物馆， 因为蒙特利尔银行是加拿大最古老的银行， 所以博物馆里有很多东西可以看。 而且蒙特利尔银行从1817年到1942年发行自己的货币， 这些在博物馆里也能看到

Our 2nd stop is Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal located at 110 Notre-Dame Street West at the other side of the square of Place-d’Arme. This church is the most famous church in Montreal, it looks like very ordinary from the outside, another Gothic Revival architecture, please be patient to wait until you get in to see the interior, you won’t feel disappointed.   我们的第二站是位于Place-d’Arme广场另一边的蒙特利尔圣母大教堂，地址是 110 Notre-Dame Street West。 这座教堂是蒙特利尔最著名的教堂， 从外面看很普通， 又一个哥德复兴时期建筑， 请耐心等待进去参观的一刻， 你绝对不会失望

Visitors have to pay $5 to get in, it’s not free for public access like usual, but it’s definitely worth to see the inside, the most colorful interior of a church in the world, and our idol since childhood Celine Dion got married here. That’s another reason we wanna visit here.  游客需要花五刀进去参观， 不是像通常那样免费参观的， 不过绝对值得一看， 世界上最五彩缤纷的教堂内部， 而且我们自小崇拜的Celine Dion就是在这里结婚的， 这也是另一个我们想进去参观的理由

There is another hall at the back of main area, totally different style, don’t miss it.  在主会场后面还有一个厅， 完全不同的风格， 可别错过了

Two Sculptures of “The English Pug and the French Poodle” created by Montreal-born Canadian Artist to humorously describe the situation between English Canadian and French Canadian, people living in Canada for years certainly know what this artist wants to show to the public.  蒙特利尔土生土长的加拿大艺术家创造的雕塑“英国斗牛犬和法国贵宾” 幽默地描述了英语系加拿大人和法语系加拿大人之间的现状， 在加拿大住过多年的人们肯定看出艺术家想表达的意思啦

Take a 10 mintues walk to Old Port to see the streets of the historic district in Old Montreal   走个10分钟就能去旧码头区， 看看蒙特利尔老城的历史文化区的街道

Two Statues in front of LHotel Montreal,  LHotel renovated a landmark historic building as a luxury hotel in the heart of Old Montreal and owned by Georges Marciano, Co-founder of GUESS,  its address is 262 St Jacques St, Montreal. This statue is created by a Colombian artist  Fernando Botero .   在LHothel门前的两个雕塑， LHotel将一历史标志性建筑重新装修成为了一座豪华酒店， 酒店的主人是GUESS 品牌的创始人之一， 地址是262 St Jacques St, Montreal， 这个雕塑是哥伦比亚艺术家Fernando Botero创作的

We are standing at the old financial district in Montreal, this building was the Canadian Bank of Commerce, the former Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce   我们所在的地方就是蒙特利尔的金融老区， 这幢楼曾经是加拿大帝国商业银行的前身加拿大商业银行所在

The weather is so changeable,  now the sky was all clear, so we changed our idea and went to Chinatown before coming back to hotel, which was next to Station Place-d’Armes   天气好多变啊， 现在天空一片晴朗， 我们又改变主意， 回酒店前去次中国城， 中国城就在地铁站Place-d’Armes旁

We left early in the morning from Ottawa to Vermont. It should take 4 hours to get to Vermont, but we spent over 1 hour to cross the US border through Highgate Springs, Vermont, although there were few people waiting for crossing there.

我们一大早就从渥太华出发去佛蒙特， 理论上需要4个小时到佛蒙特， 可我们在佛蒙特Highgate Springs过美国海关花了1个多小时， 其实只有很少的人在过关

We arrived at our first stop Vermont Teddy Bear Company at noon. Its address is 6655 Shelburne Rd, Shelburne, VT 05482.  Vermont Teddy Bear is one of the largest producers of teddy bears and the largest seller of teddy bears by mail orders and online. The company produces almost 500, 000 teddy bears every year. 我们中午才到第一站： 佛蒙特泰迪熊公司， 地址是6655 Shelburne Rd, Shelburne, VT 05482。 佛蒙特泰迪熊是泰迪熊最大生产商之一， 是直邮和网上销售最多的商家， 每年要生产50万只泰迪熊

The factory offers guided tours to visitors to introduce how a teddy bear is born here. The tour pricing is $4 per person. We just missed one tour and had plenty of time to walk around.  工厂可以参观， 了解一只泰迪熊是怎么在这里做出来的。 参观团4刀一个人。 我们刚好错过了一个团， 大把时间可以四处走走

They offer a 30-minutes factory tour, which begins every 30 minutes for a group of 10-15 persons. It’s very busy during the summer time. So we have to wait one more hour for our tour.      工厂提供30分钟的参观团， 每三十分钟一个10到15个人的团。 夏天参观的人很多， 我们足足等了一个小时才轮到我们参观

The factory tour is not very impressive to see a video to explaining how those machines work and several workers walking around who are not making ice creams.  Disappointed. 工厂参观很一般， 看了个录像介绍一下机器运作， 看到几个工作人员走来走去， 压根没有做冰淇淋， 很失望

The most interesting part during the whole tour is this tasting room.  You will get a small sample of today’s flavor, very small sample, a scoop size.  整个参观过程最有兴趣的也就是试吃间了， 可以吃一个当日口味的小样， 很小的样品， 一个球那么大

Our 3rd stop is a funny stop, World’s Tallest Filing Cabinet. Yes, just a pile of filing cabinets, which is located at 220 Flynn Ave, Burlington, VT 05401. 我们的第三站是个搞笑的景点， 世界最高的柜子， 对的， 就是一堆文件柜， 地址在220 Flynn Ave, Burlington, VT 05401

University of Vermont, one of “Public Ivy”, founded in 1791, one of the oldest universities in US, very close to the waterfront park, so we just dropped by to visit the campus. We made an one-week trip to visit three cities in three provinces/states in two countries. It sounds complicated, it’s very common between US and Canada. We visited Ottawa in Ontario, Montreal in Quebec and Vermont in USA.

我们花了一星期去了两个国家三个省/州里的三个城市， 好像很复杂， 其实在美国和加拿大之间往来很常见。 我们去了安大略省的渥太华， 魁北克省的蒙特利尔和美国佛蒙特州

Our first city in this trip was Ottawa in Ontario, the capital city of Canada, about 5 hrs drive from Toronto. We spent two days in Ottawa, some itineraries were overlapped, so I combined them into this one post.

我们这次旅行的第一个城市是安大略省的渥太华， 加拿大的首都， 离多伦多5个小时的车程。 我们在渥太华待了两天， 一些行程有些重合， 所以我合并这两天的行程在一篇博文里

Surprised to rent our favorite car “Beetle” from Budget. And an incident happened in the morning of Day 1. This New Beetle does not turn off the headlight automatically like our car, we left the headlight on all night, so we had to call Budget to send a CAA to help us boost the battery, which wasted the whole morning. 很惊喜地在Budget租到了我们喜欢的甲壳虫， 不过第一天一早就出了状况。 原来这甲壳虫不会像我们自己的车那样自动关大光灯， 大光灯就这么开了一晚上， 我们只能打电话让Budget安排了个CAA来帮我们充个电， 就这么浪费了一个早上

Driving along Highway 401 from Toronto to Ottawa does not tire us out as there are several service centers to take a break. It’s our second time to Ottawa. We went to US Embassy for visa in Ottawa last year. We know there is a parking garage in ByWard Market, so we went straight ahead to our 1st stop in Ottawa “ByWard Market”. The address of Byward Parking Garage is 70 Clarence St, Ottawa, ON K1N 9B8.  沿着401高速从多伦多开到渥太华倒也不累， 因为沿路有好几个休息站可以休息休息。 这是我们第二次到渥太华， 我们去年到渥太华的美国大使馆办过签证， 知道拜沃德市场那有个停车库， 所以我们直接去了我们在渥太华玩的第一站“拜沃德市场”， 停车库地址是70 Clarence St, Ottawa, ON K1N 9B8

This market is open all year round with a farmers market, restaurants, cafe and retail stores, worth to spend some time to walk around.  市场是全年开放， 有农贸市场、饭店、咖啡厅和商铺， 值得花些时间逛逛

Le Moulin de Provence is a very famous bakery in ByWard Market, a landmark store in Ottawa.  Le Moulin de Provence是在拜沃德市场里著名的糕点铺， 是渥太华当地的标志性商铺

And “Obama Cookie” makes Le Moulin de Provence more special. US President Obama visited here and bought this cookie in 2009. After that, this cookie was named as “Obama Cookie” and became a world famous cookie.  “奥巴马饼干”让Le Moulin de Provence变得格外特别。 美国总统奥巴马2009年到这里来买过饼干， 之后这款饼干就命名为“奥巴马饼干”， 也因此世界闻名

Rideau Canal, built in 1832, a connection between Lake Ontario and Saint Lawrence River, the oldest operated canal system in North America as a UNESCO World Heritage Site  里多运河， 1832年建成， 连接安大略湖和圣劳伦斯河， 北美仍在运行的运河里最古老的， 列为联合国教科文组织世界遗产

The canal is right next to Fairmont Château Laurie.  运河就在费尔蒙特洛里耶堡酒店旁

We luckily saw a boat running through the canal, finally understand how a canal works. They use the gates to adjust the water level up or down to lift or lower the boat. It takes so long.  我们正巧看到艘船从运河通过， 终于知道这运河是怎么运作的啦， 是依靠这一道道门来调节水位高度， 升高或降低水位把船提升或下降， 要等很久时间

We bought a deal on Groupon to take a cruise to see Ottawa River. The boarding dock is at the entrance of Rideau Canal.  我们团购了个游览渥太华河的游船， 就在里多运河口上船

Enjoying the sunshine on the top deck of the boat. The cruise runs along Ottawa River. Ottawa River is the border between Quebec Province and Ontario Province. The bridge behind me is Alexandra Bridge connecting two provinces, Quebec is on the left, Ontario is on the right.   在船的顶层晒太阳， 游船沿着渥太华河开， 渥太华河是魁北克省和安大略省的分界线。 我背后的桥是亚历山大大桥连接两个省， 桥左边是魁北克省， 右边是安大略省

Spent one hour on the cruise, and then went to Parliament Hill.  游船上花了一小时， 下一站去国会山

National Press Building, across the street to Parliament Hill, there is a welcome center on the first floor, you can make an appointment for Parliament Hill Tour. As no bag is allowed in the Parliament Hill, you have to store your bags in the lockers in the welcome center. And the selfie stick is not allowed.   国家新闻大楼， 国会山的对面， 一楼有游客中心， 国会山参观是需要在这里预约的， 而且国会山里面不能带包， 只能把包寄在游客中心的寄存处， 自拍杆也不能带的

We had to wait over 2 hours for our Parliament Hill Tour. During the 2 hours, we took a cruise and walked along Wellington Street to look around.  This is East Block with the statue of Sir Wilfrid Laurier, 7th Prime Minister.  我们等了两个多小时才能去国会山参观。 两个小时里， 我们坐了个游船， 沿着Welling大街走了一圈。 这是国会山的东楼， 前面的雕塑是威尔弗里德·劳雷尔爵士， 第七任总理

Parliament of Canada,  which was originally a military base in 18th century, became capital government building in 1859 and caught a fire in 1916, current version was built in 1927, now the expansion project is ongoing.    加拿大国会大楼， 18世纪是军事基地， 1859年成为了政府大楼， 1916年还着了火， 现在的模样是建于1927年， 扩建仍在继续

CF Rideau Center is a good place to take a break, and there is a food court inside with a wide variety of choices.  CF里多中心是个不错的地方歇歇脚， 里面有个选择挺多的美食广场

Hotels in Ottawa at affordable price are not too many. We stayed at Residence & Conference Center at Algonquin College, 15 min drive to ByWard Market, very close to downtown Ottawa. Staying on campus is convenient and safe.  And we got a suite with 2 bedrooms, 1 living room with kitchenette and 1 private bathroom.  Its address is 1385 Woodroffe Avenue, Ottawa.   价格实惠的渥太华酒店选择不是很多。 我们住在阿冈昆学院里的会议中心， 离市中心的拜沃德市场15分钟车程。 住在校园里方便安全。 我们的房间是套房， 2个卧室， 1个带厨房的厅和独立卫生间， 地址是1385 Woodroffe Avenue, Ottawa

ByWard Market is in the middle of a tourism zone. We spent two half days on the side of Parliament Hill and another half day on the other side.  拜沃德市场在旅游景区的中间， 我们花了两个半天玩国会山这边， 另外花了个半天玩另一边

Walk 10 minutes along Sussex Drive to Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica, the oldest and largest church in Ottawa, initially built in 1832, located at 385 Sussex Drive, Ottawa  沿着Sussex Drive一路走10分钟就到了圣母大教堂， 渥太华最大最老的教堂， 最初建于1832年， 地址在385 Sussex Drive, Ottawa

Royal Canadian Mint, founded in 1908, located at 320 Sussex Dr, Ottawa in a historic building  加拿大皇家铸币厂， 成立于1908年， 位于一栋历史建筑里， 地址是320 Sussex Dr, Ottawa

There is a guided tour in Royal Canadian Mint to see how to make a coin in a real mint. The admission fee is $8 per person. Photography is not allowed in the entire tour, what a pity, it’s still worth to see, especially for those gold coins.   加拿大皇家铸币厂里有参观团可以参加， 到实地铸币厂里看怎么做硬币， 门票8刀一个人。 可惜整个参观过程不能拍照， 不过还是值得一看的， 尤其是那些金币

There is a 24K gold bar in the gift shop on the second floor, which allows visitors to lift and feel how heavy the 24K gold bar is, 28lbs. It’s our first time to touch a real gold bar, so excited.  二楼的礼品店里有根24K金条， 可以给游客亲身拎一下， 感受一下24K金条有多沉， 28磅那么重。 这可是我们第一次摸24K金条， 好兴奋

National Gallery of Canada, founded by Canada’s Governor General, John Campbell in 1880, moved to current location 380 Sussex Dr, Ottawa in 1988     加拿大国家美术馆，由加拿大总督John Campbell创立于1880年， 1988年搬入现在这里的， 地址是380 Sussex Dr, Ottawa

This art gallery is national level, so it should have a lot of collections of national treasure. It’s a good place to see those priceless  masterpieces.  This is Van Gogh’s Irises, created in 1889, last year before he died.  这个美术馆是国家级的， 理应有很多珍贵的国家宝藏级收藏， 一个可以看到那些无价之宝的好地方， 这幅是梵高的《鸢尾花》， 1889年创作的， 在梵高去世前的最后一年画的

Toronto Island is a group of small islands in city of Toronto. The island is a park with an amusement park and beaches. Taking a ferry is the only way to get on the island. Jack Layton Ferry Terminal is at the harbourfront, 10 minutes walk from Union Station.   多伦多中央岛是多伦多市中心旁的几个小岛组成的， 岛上有个公园， 公园里有游乐场和沙滩。 坐轮渡是唯一可以上岛的方法。 Jack Layton渡船码头在河边， 从Union Station朝河边走10分钟就到了

The best place to see Toronto skyline is from the island, especially from the picnic area.  看多伦多城际线的最佳角度是从中央岛这里看， 尤其是野餐区这边

There is a small farm on the island, not only for kids but also for us who are really enjoying.  中央岛上有个小农场， 不单单是小朋友玩的， 我们也很喜欢那里

That piggy that we saw at the entrance actually lives in the farm, the old man is a zookeeper who is so kind to walk that piggy.  原来我们之前在门口看到的小猪是住在这个农场的啊， 那个遛猪老人原来是动物园管理员， 对猪猪那么好还遛它

There are three beaches on Toronto Island. Hanlan’s Point beach near the airport is the very popular Clothing Optional Beach. We visited Chelsea Beach.  多伦多中央岛有三个沙滩， 机场旁的Hanlan’s Point beach是著名的天体沙滩。 我们去的是中间的 Chelsea Island沙滩

Gibraltar Point Lighthouse on the Toronto Island, built in 1808, the oldest existing lighthouse on the Great Lakes, one of Toronto’s oldest buildings  多伦多中央岛的Gibraltar Point灯塔， 建于1808年， 是五大湖现存最古老的灯塔， 也是多伦多最古老的建筑之一

Today is Toronto Doors Open Day, we are allowed to go inside to visit the lighthouse.  今天是多伦多门户开放日， 我们可以到灯塔里面参观

Today, we went to Baton Rouge, the capital city of Louisiana, 1.5 hrs drive from New Orleans.   今天， 我们跑到巴吞鲁日， 路易斯安那州的首府， 离新奥尔良开车1个半小时

1st Stop: Louisiana State Capitol, the tallest building in Baton Rouge and tallest capitol in USA, its address is 900 North 3rd Street Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  There is a free parking for visitors next to the building. 第一站： 路易斯安那州议会， 巴吞鲁日最高的大楼， 也是美国最高的议会大楼， 地址是900 North 3rd Street Baton Rouge, Louisiana。 大楼旁有免费的访客停车场

Visitors are allowed to visit the building after passing the security.  过了安检后， 游客允许参观大楼

There is an observation deck on the 27th floor to overlook the city of Baton Rouge. The view is spectacular.     27楼有个瞭望台， 可以鸟瞰巴吞鲁日， 风景相当好

Mardi Gras in New Orleans is a traditional festival held annually for two weeks, usually in February or March. It never matches our schedule, no chance to join, just took a photo with the statue.  新奥尔良马尔迪·格拉斯狂欢节是每年都会举办的为期两周的传统节日， 通常在两月或者三月举行。 我们那段时间怎么都没有空的， 没机会参加啦， 就在雕塑前拍拍照吧

We spent only $2 to take a ferry as a sightseeing cruise for Mississippi River and City of New Orleans. Compared to those over-budgeted cruises, it’s much more affordable.  我们只花2美金搭轮渡观光密西西比河看看新奥尔良， 和那些超贵的观光游轮比， 价格便宜很多

Although the ferry service is for locals, most people on the ferry are tourists.  虽然轮渡是服务当地居民的， 不过大多数在坐轮渡的是游客

Algiers Point across the river is a very small area, nothing worth to visit, took another ferry back to downtown New Orleans   对岸的Algiers Point是个很小的区域， 没什么可以逛的， 搭下一班渡轮回到了新奥尔良市中心

French Quarter, the historic heart of New Orleans, the oldest district in New Orleans founded in 1718, famous for these special buildings full of jazz pubs, restaurants and gift shops.  法语区， 新奥尔良的历史中心， 新奥尔良最古老的地区， 建立于1718年， 因为这些特别的建筑而出名， 里面全是爵士酒吧、饭店和礼品店

A lot of restaurants offer traditional Cajun cuisines. To avoid those possibly tainted restaurants, we went to the franchise Bubba Gump, it’s pretty good, particularly the Cajun shrimp.  许多饭店有传统的Cajun美食， 为了避雷， 我们去了连锁的Bubba Gump， 很不错， 尤其是那个Cajun虾

Yes, Bubba Gump is named after the movie “Forrest Gump”.  The idea to found this franchise restaurant is also from that movie.  Bubba Gump是来自电影《阿甘正传》， 开这个连锁饭店的想法也是来自这部电影

These cast iron balconies are the icon of French Quarter.   这些雕花铁围栏的阳台是法语区的标志

Jackson Square was temporarily closed to prepare for the music festival. We had to come back on the next day.  杰克逊广场被暂时关闭， 在为音乐节布置， 害我们第二天又回来了

What’s the long line for?  那么长的队在排啥啊？

Cafe Du Monde, the landmark of New Orleans, this is the original coffee stand in French Market built by the Spanish in 1791, that’s why here is a popular tourist attraction.     Cafe Du Monde， 新奥尔良的标志， 是法语区市场的最早的咖啡厅， 西班牙人建于1791年， 这也是为什么这里是热门旅游景点啦

Cafe Au Lait and Beignets from the menu are the most famous.  菜单上的咖啡拿铁和甜甜圈是最出名的

Actually, the long line is only for take out. There is no wait for open-air tables.  实际上， 外卖反而要排长队， 坐室外的桌子吃到不用等

The coffee sold at Cafe Du Monde was invented during the American Civil War. At that time, there was a coffee shortage, New Orleans people blended chicory into coffee. Cafe Du Monde continues to sell this historic coffee up to now.  It’s worth to try.   这里卖的咖啡是美国内战时发明的。 那时， 咖啡短缺， 新奥尔良人将菊苣拌入咖啡。 Cafe Du Monde至今还在销售这种历史悠久的咖啡， 很值得一试

A variety of souvenirs can be found in the market.  各种纪念品市场里都能找到

Alligator meat is also sold in the market, but we did not try it.  鳄鱼肉市场里都有吃， 不过我们没有尝试

New Orleans Mint under Louisiana State Museum  路易斯安那州州立博物馆旗下的新奥尔良铸币厂

New Orleans Mint was one of branches of the US Mint, operated from 1838 to 1861 and from 1879 to 1909. 新奥尔良铸币厂是美国铸币厂的分部之一， 于1838年到1861年和1879年到1909年间运作

Now it is a mint museum exhibiting some coins made by this mint and old facilities.  现在是个铸币博物馆， 展览着一些由这个铸币厂做出来的硬币和老旧的设备

Old Ursuline Convent Museum, the oldest building in New Orleans built between 1748 and 1752,  the finest surviving example of French colonial public architecture in USA  老修道院， 新奥尔良最古老的建筑， 建于1748年到1752年之间， 是美国曾经被法国人殖民过的保存最完好的见证

Madame John’s Legacy, built in 1788, a historic house museum,  one of the oldest houses in the French Quarter in the older French colonial style, a National Historic Landmark   约翰夫人家，房子建于1788年，历史博物馆， 法语区最古老的房子之一， 老式法国殖民地风格， 是国家历史标志性建筑

Napoleon House, built in 1794, one of finest examples of French style buildings, here was planned to be Napoleon’s residence during his exile, but it was cancelled due to his death.   拿破仑之家， 建于1794年， 法式建筑代表之一， 这里曾经计划作为拿破仑流放的居所， 结果因为拿破仑逝世而取消计划了

The temperature at 5pm in early April in New Orleans was 91F, the feel like was over 100F. Walking on the street in French Quarter for hours was very tough. And there are very few public restrooms nearby.  Most stores don’t provide restrooms to tourists, even customers who purchase stuff from them. You can try pubs or hotels for restrooms.   新奥尔良四月初下午5点的温度是91F， 体感要超过100F。 在法语区路上走了几个小时是很折磨人的。 而且周围没啥公共厕所， 大多数店铺不提供厕所给游客， 即使你是有买东西的顾客。 可以去酒吧或饭店找厕所

Our Dinner, crawfish, New Orleans Crawfish Festival is annually held around end April. So we were right in the season of crawfish. Boiled Cajun Crawfish is a traditional New Orleans cuisine.  Certainly, you can get crawfish from local restaurants. We accidentally found fully cooked crawfish at Walmart deli area at very good price and it tastes very delicious.   我们的晚饭， 小龙虾， 新奥尔良小龙虾节每年四月底举行。 我们正好赶上小龙虾上市。 Cajun水煮小龙虾是新奥尔良传统美食。 当然， 你可以在当地饭店吃到小龙虾。 我们无意间在沃尔玛的熟食区发现了煮好的小龙虾， 价格很适宜， 还很好吃

We saw the alligators, tasted traditional Louisiana Cajun and enjoyed the New Orleans Jazz. All the memories in Louisiana are wonderful, that’s why we came back in 2016.

Before we visited New Orleans, we only got some ideas about this city from the popular dish “New Orleans Roasted Chicken Wings” sold in Chinese KFC. Yes, that KFC, Kentucky Fried Chicken, we thought KFC brought a classic New Orleans dish to China, until we went to New Orleans by ourselves to find out there is no “New Orleans Roasted Chicken Wings” in New Orleans, a completely new invention created by Chinese KFC. What a genius! HA HA

去新奥尔良之前， 我们对这个城市的概念仅限于中国肯德基里卖的新奥尔良烤鸡翅。 对的， 就是肯德基， 卖炸鸡的那个， 我们一直以为肯德基把经典新奥尔良名菜带进了中国， 直到我们去了新奥尔良才发现根本没有什么新奥尔良烤鸡翅， 一个由中国肯德基发明的彻头彻尾的创意菜。 真是个天才， 哈哈

In early April, we still wore down coats in Canada,  when we got off the flight, we had to make a change to T shirts and shorts for this hot weather 86°F(30°C) in New Orleans. New Orleans has a typical wet weather, so the feel like temperature went over 40°C, hot hot hot for two Canadians.  四月初， 加拿大我们还穿着羽绒服， 下飞机我们就找地方换T恤和短裤， 新奥尔良的天气好热30度。 新奥尔良的天气是典型的潮湿型， 所以体感温度绝对超过40度， 对于两个加拿大人来说太热啦

We crossed Mississippi River for our first stop “Ultimate Swamp Adventures” to take a cruise to see alligators. We bought this deal from Groupon. You have to book a seat in advance because of a small boat. But you’d better book seats in person, although we called them to book seats one week before the trip, they messed up the record and we had to wait another boat for one more hour.  我们跑到密西西比河对岸去参加我们第一个活动“终极沼泽探险”， 搭船去看鳄鱼。 我们是团购这个游船的， 因为搭的是小船， 需要提前预订位置。 但是最好是当面预定， 我们虽然在出发前一周打电话预定了位置， 结果他们的预定一团乱， 没有记录， 只能多等一个小时搭另一艘船

This airboat is another type of a cruise, more expensive and much faster, very noisy. Actually our small boat is very powerful to bring full of people to run at a fast speed.  这种快艇是另一种游船， 更贵更快， 但很吵。 其实我们小船的马力也很大的

Our captain is very experienced to know every alligator in this swamp area, he drove us directly to their home, so you won’t fail to see alligators during this boat tour, and you can see a bunch of alligators and other animals, don’t miss this great tour.  我们的船长很有经验， 知道这片沼泽里的每条鳄鱼， 直接开着船到人家鳄鱼的家去拜访的， 所以你肯定能搭船看到鳄鱼， 而且还不止一只， 还有其他小动物， 不要错过这个棒极了的游船

You have a chance to see an alligator closely, very very closely.  可以近距离看鳄鱼， 很近很近的那种

We saw the biggest alligator in this area, very very long.  我们见到了这片沼泽最大的一只鳄鱼， 很长很长

The captain was using marshmallows to attract alligators to come closely. Surprised to know alligators like marshmallows so much.  船长用棉花糖吸引鳄鱼游过来， 很吃惊地发现鳄鱼真的很喜欢吃棉花糖

We saw a pelican, the state bird of Louisiana.  我们看见鹈鹕， 路易斯安那州的州鸟

A baby alligator was getting some sun.   小鳄鱼正在晒太阳

A Bald Eagle, remember to bring a long-range camera lens, you will need it.  一个秃鹰， 记得带上长焦镜头， 你会需要的

Beautiful View but really Hot, although in early April 很美的风景， 不过好热， 才四月初啊

Our captain has good eyes, he even saw this snake hiding in the similar color tree.  我们的船长眼睛可尖了， 居然能看到藏在差不多颜色的树里的蛇

They all like marshmallows.  都喜欢吃棉花糖

A big one was sleeping.  一个大家伙在睡觉

Fishing in the swamp area is much more dangerous, dozens of alligators are nearby, what a brave man!   沼泽地里钓鱼好危险啊， 周围都是鳄鱼啊， 好勇敢的人啊！

Going to downtown New Orleans, got stuck on the bridge even during the weekend, every city has a traffic problem.  去新奥尔良市中心的路上， 堵在了桥上， 今天还是周末， 每个城市都有交通问题

Whenever we go to a metropolitan city in USA during the NBA season, we always schedule to watch a game, not an overbudget playoff. Today, we are going to see New Orleans Pelican vs Golden State Warriors, 2014-2015 season Golden State Warriors was not that famous, which made us to get tickets easily. This proves again we are the good finders.

每次在NBA赛季去美国大城市的时候， 我们总是会找个时间看场比赛， 当然不是那种超贵的总决赛啦。 今天我们要去看新奥尔良鹈鹕队对金州勇士， 2014年-2015年的赛季金州勇士还不是那么出名， 我们很轻松地就买到了票， 再次证明我俩独具慧眼

We parked our car across the street to Mercedes-Benz Superdome at Go Park at a reasonable price. The parking garage is located at 530 Freret St, New Orleans, LA 70112. Superdome is not for New Orleans Pelicans, it’s the home stadium of NFL New Orleans Saints.   我们把车停在梅赛德斯-奔驰超级巨蛋对面地停车库Go Park， 价格合理， 停车库地址是530 Freret St, New Orleans, LA 70112。 巨蛋不是新奥尔良鹈鹕队的主场， 是橄榄球队新奥尔良圣徒队的主场

Getting a Smoothie King at Smoothie King Center is a must-do.  在冰沙国王中心买杯冰沙是必须的

What an intense game! The game went even again at the last 35.6 seconds. Everyone was so excited, people began cheering and giving each other high fives. Pelicans’ fans are extremely supportive, cheering up for the team every minute.  这场比赛很激烈，比赛最后35.6秒还打成平手。 每个人都很兴奋， 都在欢呼击掌。 鹈鹕队的粉丝很热血， 每分钟都在为本队打气

Unfortunately, Stephen Curry made a 3-point shot at the last second, Pelicans lost, it’s unbelievable to see Curry ended the game with his famous 3-point shot by ourselves.  可惜， 鹈鹕队输了， 库里最后一秒投进了三分， 真的是不可思议亲眼目睹库里最著名的3分球终结比赛
